BACKING THE NEXT BOATLOAD OF LEGENDS

TOOWONG ROWING FOUNDATION

INVESTING IN THE FUTURE OF TOOWONG ROWING CLUB

Because Rivers Rise. Costs Rise. Talent Shouldn’t Miss Out.

The Toowong Rowing Foundation was created to protect and strengthen Toowong Rowing Club for the long term. When you donate, you are not just supporting a club. You are investing in infrastructure, equipment, access, and resilience that ensure Toowong remains competitive, community-led, and strong for decades to come.

This is where you step in.

Your gift today becomes boats not yet rowed, crews not yet selected, and opportunities the next generation will chase in your wake.

WHERE YOUR SUPPORT GOES

WHAT THE TOOWONG ROWING FOUNDATION FUNDS

Your Donation Becomes Real Things.

The Toowong Rowing Foundation does the steady work that keeps the club strong and moving forward. It receives and invests funds, directing them where they have real impact – into boatsheds and pontoons, upgraded boats and oars, ergometers and training equipment, youth subsidies so cost never sidelines talent, high-performance campaigns, and a financial buffer to protect the club from floods and other curveballs.

Beyond infrastructure, it strengthens Toowong’s role in the broader Brisbane community – keeping the club connected, competitive and welcoming. Since its inception, the Foundation has helped upgrade the fleet, backed initiatives like Hold It Up TRC, and committed funding to restore flood-damaged facilities so crews can return to the water with confidence.

SAFER LAUNCHES

Pontoons, boatsheds and infrastructure that help crews get on and off the water safely.

FASTER FLEET

Boats, oars, ergometers and equipment that keep Toowong competitive.

WIDER ACCESS

Support that helps ensure cost does not sideline young rowers or emerging talent.

RESILIENCE

Financial protection for floods, unexpected costs and opportunities the Club cannot afford to miss.

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS MORE THAN EVER

Costs are rising. Equipment ages. Floods do not wait.

Clubs like Toowong are built on volunteers and grit – but boats still need replacing, pontoons still need repairing, and talented young rowers still need support to stay on the water. The Foundation exists so that when challenges come, the club does not fall behind. It moves forward.

GOVERNANCE & STEWARDSHIP

The Toowong Rowing Foundation is structured to ensure every donation is managed with accountability and transparency. It operates as a formal trust fund, with clearly defined legal safeguards designed to protect its long-term purpose.

The trustee is Toowong Rowing Foundation Ltd, a public company limited by guarantee. This means the Foundation is governed by voting members and a board of directors rather than external shareholders, with one responsibility: stewarding funds in line with the Foundation’s constitution and trust deed.

Our directors combine professional expertise with deep connection to Toowong Rowing Club and the Brisbane rowing community, ensuring every dollar is overseen carefully and aligned with the Foundation’s objectives. Strong governance does not sit on the water. But it is what keeps the boats there.

HOW YOUR SUPPORT WORKS

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes. Donations of $2 or more made through the Australian Sports Foundation are tax deductible in Australia, and you’ll receive an official tax receipt shortly after your donation. Every eligible gift helps strengthen Toowong Rowing Club for future generations while providing a tax benefit for Australian donors.

What does the Toowong Rowing Foundation actually fund?

The Foundation exists to strengthen Toowong Rowing Club for the long term. Donations help support boats, rowing equipment, boatsheds, pontoons, infrastructure, youth participation, high-performance rowing and the financial resilience needed to protect the Club when unexpected challenges arise.

Is the Foundation different from Toowong Rowing Club?

Yes. The Foundation and the Club are separate legal entities with different roles but a shared purpose. The Club focuses on running today’s rowing programs, while the Foundation focuses on protecting and strengthening the Club’s long-term future through fundraising, investment and financial stewardship.

How does the Foundation use donations?

Every donation is stewarded by the Foundation’s Board and directed towards its long-term charitable objectives. Rather than funding day-to-day operations, donations are invested in projects and initiatives that strengthen the Club for future generations and improve its long-term financial resilience.

Can I leave a gift to the Foundation in my Will?

Yes. A bequest or legacy gift is one of the most powerful ways to help secure Toowong Rowing Club for future generations. Legacy gifts can help fund infrastructure, equipment, youth opportunities and long-term financial security long after today’s races have finished.

Can I make a regular monthly donation?

Yes. Regular giving helps the Foundation plan confidently, commit to multi-year projects and build a sustainable financial base that benefits Toowong Rowing Club year after year. Even modest monthly donations compound into meaningful long-term support.

Can businesses or organisations support the Foundation?

Absolutely. Businesses, sponsors and organisations can support the Foundation through donations, partnerships and other forms of philanthropic giving. Corporate support helps strengthen community sport while leaving a lasting legacy for future Toowong rowers.

How is the Foundation governed?

The Foundation is governed by an independent Board under its Constitution and Trust Deed. Directors are responsible for stewarding donations responsibly and ensuring funds are managed in accordance with the Foundation’s charitable objectives and long-term purpose.

Why does Toowong Rowing Club need a Foundation?

Boats wear out. Equipment ages. Infrastructure requires ongoing investment. Floods and unexpected events don’t wait for fundraising campaigns. The Foundation exists so the Club can build long-term financial resilience rather than relying solely on short-term fundraising or emergency appeals.

How can I make the biggest long-term impact?

Every contribution helps, but recurring donations, major gifts and bequests create the greatest long-term impact. These forms of giving help the Foundation plan decades ahead, ensuring future generations inherit a stronger Toowong Rowing Club than the one we enjoy today.

HELP STEER TOOWONG TOWARD ITS NEXT HUNDRED YEARS
